Fair Winds Farm Pet Policy

We know how it is. Your dog/pet is your best friend - part of the family in fact! You want to include your pal on your trip to Fair Winds Farm! Unfortunately, when you ask if it's ok, we have to say, "Sorry, no, we don't allow pets." Why not? Here's why:

  • Farming Safety is a key reason for this policy. What are you going to do when at a moment you are distracted, perhaps picking the perfect bouquet; your dog takes a dump next to you? Even if you attempt to be attentive about cleaning up after their mess, it’s unlikely that all traces of feces can be removed. It will be left to be tracked throughout the growing area.

  • Customer Safety is certainly a reason for our pet policy. Dogs will be dogs, and no matter how well trained, dog bites, dog fights, and other unpleasant contacts with other customers can sometimes be problematic. On a farm, untrained dogs can do a lot of damage or be harmed by our electric fence hazards. They could get loose off their leash and startle our livestock (free-roaming chickens, cats, pigs, alpacas, etc.).

  • We will absolutely allow service dogs on our farm. We will ask you the two questions we are allowed to ask according to the American with Disabilities Act guidelines to verify that your dog is, indeed, an actual service animal. We will not allow Emotional Support Animals or Therapy Dogs.

We understand your love and in some cases absolute need to have your animal with you. However, it is our duty to protect the health and safety of our livestock and patrons. Allowing outside animals onto our farm would prohibit us from doing so. Thank you for understanding.
